Brass at the Proms is an annual presentation by the City of Wollongong Brass Band which showcases our ensembles for their flexibility and at times its virtuosity, in playing concert favourites in the style of the British last night at the Proms.

The afternoon will be filled with a variety of music by both our "Senior" and "Junior" brass bands to suit all tastes and, of course, the usual proms finale featuring "Pomp & Circumstance". "Famous British Marches" and "Jerusalem".

There is ample parking at the venue as well as off street parking with easy access to the facility

City of Wollongong Brass Band


The Brass Band is the main band of our organisation and traces its history back to the original Wollongong Steelworks Brass Band that became the City of Wollongong Brass Band.

The Brass Band practice is 7:30-9:30pm Friday nights in the Band Hall.

City of Wollongong Junior Brass Band


The City of Wollongong Junior Brass Band is under the directorship of Des Cannings.
The Junior Brass Band is the band for members under the age of 19 years. 
Older members help out from time to time, but they are unable to compete in competitions. 
Many of the Junior Band's more experienced players also play with the Senior Band.

The Junior Band practices Fridays from 5.30pm until 7.00pm in the Band Hall, with some of the more advanced band members staying on for practice at 7.30pm, with the Brass Band.

City of Wollongong Wind Band



Started in mid-2003 as a brass band, (originally known as the Intermediate Band) is the second most recently formed band within the organisation.

Rehearsing on Tuesday nights from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, in the Band Hall.
The Wind Band always welcomes new members, regardless of their experience.

City of Wollongong Junior Wind Band

The Junior Wind Band is our most recently formed band, and is under the capable direction of Leanne Walton.

This band caters for wind players under 19 years.
New players are welcome.
There is no entrance audition.
Own instrument is required.

The Junior Wind Band rehearses Tuesday evenings at 5:30pm in the Band Hall, corner of Ellen and Church Street.
